Our house...

Okay...let's lighten things up today! I had a request for photos of our house...and I think I've posted a few on Facebook, but I don't think I gave the full nickel tour.

The front of our house

We live in a small gated community. It's really conveniently located to Publika (our mall) - which is right across the street. We have a pool and a small clubhouse here. Additionally, there is a field where the boys can play ball/soccer  - as we do not have a lawn.

We have a front porch area where we have some patio furniture and some great tropical plants. I do not have a green thumb whatsoever, so thankfully, Elizabeth takes care of the plants. We don't sit outside as much as I would like (too damn hot and humid!), but I like to sit out here in the morning with the boys before they get on the bus - we have some pretty funny conversations out here.

Here's a couple of pics of our living room. The walls in our house are concrete - making picture hanging difficult. We've put up a few things, but left most of our art at home. (I went into this move with the full knowledge that this is not my "forever home" and will work with what we have! Also, I want to buy some art here that we can bring back with us as a remembrance of this trip.)

Our dining area is right off the living room/kitchen. We're using the area under the stairs for storage (as we don't have a basement). The screens help hide our "stuff."

The "dry" kitchen

The "wet" kitchen

We have two kitchen areas. Because Asian cooking usually involves stir frying, there is the wet kitchen which is towards the back of the house and can be closed off to keep the smells contains. It is in the wet kitchen where you have your stove top. In the dry kitchen you have your oven and microwave and main refrigerator. The oven here is VERY tiny compared to what we have in the U.S. So tiny in fact, that some of my baking dishes and cookie sheets don't even fit in it! (It is in the dry kitchen where I found my gecko-lizard-chameleon-dragon friend!!)

Pantry

We've converted this room into a pantry with an extra refrigerator. Our real estate agent told us that if we had live-in help that this is where she would sleep. I can't imagine! It's SUPER SMALL! No way!

We have a small back porch area where we store our bikes and dry clothes.

Exercise room/Office

Blaine did not join a gym as the times don't seem to work for him - so we trucked everything across the ocean. Additionally, he has to take quite a few calls in the evening since we are 13 hours ahead of Minneapolis - so this is his space. (Yeah, I occasionally sneak in there for a workout!)

Heading upstairs - closet

Master bedroom

TV area in master bedroom

Closets/Master bath

We are very lucky to have a super spacious master bedroom with closets that I never want to give up! The closets go floor to ceiling and I have room for EVERYTHING!!!  This will be hard to top when we get back to the States.

Guest room

We have a guest room with a private bath - and we welcome any visitors with open arms!! I know it's one helluva flight over here, but you always have a place to stay! We've got plenty of room!

Boys' Playroom

Now the boys are really lucky as the third floor has essentially become their very own private space. We turned one portion into a playroom for all of their Beyblades, Wii, t.v., Hot Wheels and all of their games!

Grayson's Room

Grayson chose tropical fish for his room. (There's a giant manta ray on one of the walls.) And, he scored a king-size bed when he came here. (It came with the house - otherwise the little dude would still be sleeping in his twin bed!)

Caleb's room

No one can be surprised that the Yankees room travelled across the ocean. We changed it up a little and went with some FatHeads on the walls (due to the concrete), but, it's totally a baseball oasis.

So there's the tour! We're very fortunate to live in a great location and we like our house (minus the geckos!). It will suit us just fine until we return to the States - or wherever Cargill decides to send us at the end of our time here in Malaysia.
