Missed Opportunity and Immigration Mess-Up...

I'm so mad at myself this morning! I missed cooking club! Aaarrrgggghhhh! I had it on my calendar...just not on TODAY'S calendar! I had it on NEXT WEEK'S calendar!

I headed off to my first big girl Crossfit class this morning (as I finished on-ramp last week) and when I was done with class, there was a message from Trang about heading to cooking club. WHAT!? It's today?! I was a hot and sweaty mess and was already 15 minutes late and knew I could not make it! Bummed - as I had been looking forward to this. Hopefully, I'm not blackballed from the club and can wrangle another invitation for future events.

Blaine is traveling this week. He's over in Sabah for meetings with customers and a board meeting with some government agency.

(While looking at this map, I cannot help but remember my mom yelling at us kids when we were young to "Stop acting like the wild children of Borneo!" Little did she (or I) know that I would be living so close to Borneo. I'll have to be sure to use this phrase on my own kids when we go visit Borneo!)

Blaine's travel seemed relatively smooth until he arrived in Sabah - without his passport! You see, we've all been issued Malaysian i.d. cards - which Blaine was told would allow us to travel in Malaysia without our passports.

A little piece of our identification cards

So, upon his arrival in Sabah, immigration asked him for his passport - which is at home, safely locked in our safe. At this point he was escorted to a room where 4 immigration officers quizzed him on what he was doing there, why he didn't have his passport and more importantly - they wondered if he was capable of reading line #3 on the back of his i.d. card which states: In the case of entering or leaving West Malaysia, Sabah, or Sarawak, you shall produce your passport to an immigration officer at the checkpoint. Whoops! Anyways, they issued him a temporary stay through Friday. Hopefully, he'll have no trouble on this end when he wants to get back into Kuala Lumpur Friday night.

Other than that, the kids and I are busy with normal family stuff. We've settled into a routine...which changes slightly this week with the start of after school activities (ASAs). Both boys have "Mechatronix" today after school. (Building things with Legos and motors) and Grayson has origami tomorrow after school, along with swim lessons. Of course, add some homework into the mix and our afternoons are pretty busy. And, I have to say, I like the sense of routine and normalcy we're falling into...it definitely makes KL seem more like home.
