Fashion Faux Pas...

Our sea shipment has arrived and we are doing really well getting everything unboxed and put away. And of course, throwing away junk! Everyone should move every few years just so you can throw away shit!! It's so liberating!

We attended the neighbourhood Hari Raya celebration today. The management group throws a big luncheon with lots of local dishes. So far...I'm not a big fan of the local cuisine, but this was a nice opportunity to try some new things without any pressure. Now, as Malaysia is a Muslim country, pork is not widely consumed. You can buy it, but it's not served in many restaurants and of course, would not be served at a Hari Raya celebration (which happens as the end of Ramadan). Well, what shirt does Blaine have on at the event?

I can't help but giggle...but, I'm sure the locals did not find it amusing. (Even the boys' new baseball coach laughed and said that it probably wasn't politically correct to wear, but that he really liked the shirt!)

And yes, baseball started today for the boys. They will be playing ball on the 10U team for the KL All Stars. They practice each Saturday from 3-5 p.m. and have lots of cool tournaments! (Turkey, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam - at least those were the countries thrown out by some of the parents at practice!) I'm excited! As are the boys! We get to travel and they get to play ball!

Oh, and for those of you wondering how Caleb is doing - much better! Making friends, he now has his bike and is zipping around the 'hood...life is good.

Tonight was dinner at Nando's across the street. The chicken was delicious, the meal was pretty inexpensive and the ENTIRE family liked it!

We even ran into Beth, Brian, and Quinton while we were in Publika. Looks like we'll get together with them next weekend some time...

Tomorrow is a trip back to Ikea for a desk for the office and we'll stock up on a few things at Tesco while we're in the area. I think I may take my first stab at driving tomorrow! Thankfully, traffic is pretty light on Sundays! Think good thoughts for me - pray I don't take out any people on scooters!!

  1. Robin, that is so funny about the shirt! ha! It sounds like things are settling in---best of luck with the transition. I'm sure things will begin settling down into some normalcy soon. :)
