Party Inspiration...

When we were living in the U.S. we seemed to throw quite a few parties/get-togethers/group therapy sessions. Some had themes - Cinco de Mayo and Mardi Gras come to mind. Others happened around sporting events or holidays. Sometimes, it was just a nice night and we'd open the bar.

I haven't been entertaining as much as I would like here. We don't have a big backyard where we can set up tables and chairs and tents or let the kids run around (although our neighbourhood is perfectly safe for letting the kids loose.) We also seem to be really busy on the weekends with the kids in multiple sports and all of their activities.

But, I'm feeling the need to entertain - or at least get the ball rolling with some sort of gathering. I've been thinking about this for the past few days...not quite sure what I wanted to do. Then, in the mail, this arrived:

 

 

Ah, bacon. Nothing like some porky goodness. So after reading this from cover to cover (and yes, there is drool on several of the pages), I have decided that the next party will be a pork potluck. Everyone will bring one or two dishes. Appetizers, main courses, side dishes, and desserts will be allowed. Each dish must contain pork (not limited to just bacon - any pork cut of your choice). Each dish will be placed out for everyone to try without knowing who made what. At the end of the evening we will all vote on our favourite pork dishes in each of the categories - along with a grand champion of most delectable pork dish! We will give prizes - most likely liquor and/or wine to those top vote getters in each category!

 

So...my local KL friends, if you'd like to  get in on this - let me know! The more the merrier! I will start looking at the calendar and searching for a date!! Pork Party 2014 - Let's do it!
